Treason Trial: ACP Agordzor sends ‘direct message’ to President Akufo-Addo

ACP Dr Benjamin Agordzo after court proceedings on Wednesday morning sent a direct message to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over his trial for treason over a whatsapp platform chat.

Mr. Agordzor told journalists that President Akufo-Addo asked Ghanaians to be citizens and that is what he did by expressing his opinion.

The top police officer said he is innocent and will fight to the very end.

“I have not committed any crime. I’ve done nothing wrong. The President called upon us to be citizens.” he said.

“So when I express my opinion on a WhatsApp platform, unrelated to any alleged coup, nobody should bog me down.”, he added.

The police officer who appeared calm said he is not perturbed because he knows in the end he will be vindicated. He also expressed appreciation to the media for the support.

“And I will stand for this. I will stand for this to the end. They cannot break me down at all. And I’m as strong as anything. Thank you very much for your support.”

Hunger protest

Since he was detained for his alleged involvement in a coup plot, ACP Agordzor has refused to eat.

This, according to his lawyer, Martin Kpebu, is to protest against the violations of his rights at the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) cells.

Speaking on JoyNews Tuesday, he said ACP Dr Benjamin Agborzor is not doing well.

“His wife prevailed upon him but he said ‘No’, he is not going to eat. He is abhorred at how the BNI is treating him,” he revealed.

ACP Dr Agordzor has been charged with abetment to commit treason.
