School suspends one student for wearing hijab

The management of the International School, University of Ibadan has suspended a female student, Miss Ikhlass Badru who allegedly flouted the school rules and regulations by wearing a hijab on her school uniform.

According to a letter signed by the school principal, Mrs Phebean Olowe, she is to go on suspension from October 7 to 18 2018.

her parents were directed to report with her on October 21 with a letter of undertaking to the school stating she will obey rules and regulations throughout her remaining days in the school.

The Muslim parent’s forum in the school has petitioned the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Director-General of the Department of state services to investigate the matter.
