Sarki Musah Yahaya Yendu, the Greater Accra Zabarma Chief and Paramount Chief of Zabarma Community in Ghana together with his cabinet members on Saturday, March 23, welcome the new WBO Africa Junior Welterweight champion at the Palace in Accra.
The new Africa Junior Welterweight champion, Faisal Abubakar’s visit was to introduce
himself to the Greater Accra Zabarma Chief and his cabinet members.
The visit also aimed at presenting the Africa Junior Welterweight championship title to the Chief.
Presenting the title, Faisal Abubakar expressed worry over the little support from the Zabarma community whenever he gets into the ring.
According to him, he is a proud Zabarma born in Ghana who has always demonstrated his love for the Zabarma community adding that he has always wished to speak Zabarma after every fight but due to their absence and lack of support he can not speak. He has therefore appealed to the Chief to at all times rally behind him and show love as he continue to make Ghana, Zongo and the Zabarma people proud.
He revealed that he started his boxing career at Bukom a suburb of Accra where he lived with his fellow Zabarma people adding that most of the Zabarma people in Bukom are into boxing and there are many who have made it to the world stage in boxing.
He expressed his joy in meeting the Greater Accra Zabarma Chief and elders of the Zabarma community which according to him, has been his wish as a young and talented Zabarma and Zongo boy who is climbing up for a world title.
The new Africa Junior Welterweight champion expressed his gratitude to the Chief and elders in the Zabarma community in Ghana for their prayers and assured them that he will at all time make them proud and pleaded for their support and prayers through out his career as a boxer.
On his part, the Greater Accra Zabarma Chief and Paramount Chief of Zabarma community in Ghana Sarki Alhaji Musah Yahaya Yendu assured the young champion of the support within the Zabarma communities across the country.
According to him, the visit of Africa Junior Welterweight champion to his Palace is not a visit to only the palace but a visit for the entire Zabarma people and commended Faisal Abubakar for not hiding his tribe but coming out boldly to appreciate where he is coming from.
He urged him to do his best to continue contributing his quota to the development of boxing in Ghana and make Ghana and Zabarma proud.
He called on all Zabarmas born in Ghana to one way or the other contribute their quota positively to the growth of Ghana.
Sarki Musah Yahya Yendu instructed Sarki Masawo Modi to as a matter of urgency create social media platforms that will promote the Africa Junior Welterweight champion among the Zabarma people.
The platform will give room for all Zabarma’s in Ghana to physically, spiritually and financially support the young champion in his career.
