NPP Launched Zongo Gaskiya Forum

Bawumia For President 2024 Zongo Campaign team has launched the ” Zongo Gaskiya Forum” a platform aimed to account to Ghanaians especially the Zongos on the stewardship of the New Patriotic Party as far as Zongo Development is concerned.

The platform seeks to address the way forward under the future government of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia from January 2025.

The Gaskiya forum will provide a decent platform for the party to engage with stakeholders from the Zongo community and reflect on the tangible achievements of the NPP in the Zongo communities in the fourth republic under the government of former President John Agyekum Kufuor between 2001 to 2009 as well as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo 2017 and now.

It will also look at the history and extension of sustainable development to the Zongo communities and drawn the comparisons with the National Democratic Congress NDC which has had numerous support from the Zongo community in the fourth republic.

Speaking at the launch, the Chairman of the National Zongo Campaign team, Hon. Ben Abdullah Banda, who listed the achievements of the Vice President and flag bearer of the NPP stated that the party has demonstrated sincere commitment to strengthen the diversity of the country by building an inclusive party and society.

He revealed that the party has provided a mix of north, south and Christian, Muslim ticket which reflect the diversity of the Ghanaian society across board adding that it is intended to promote Inter-faith harmony and consolidate crucial cohesion.

He stated that the NPP then PFP in 1979 under Mr. Victor Owusu nominated Talon Naa Alhaji Yakubu Al Hassan Tale and in 1992 the party also nominated Lawyer Roland Yusif from the North who was also a Muslim.

He added that the NPP went ahead and nominated Alhaji Aliu Mahama and now Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and the party has maintain this unifying spector for seven times out of the eight presidential elections that have been held in the fourth republic.

This he said has resulted in an historic election of Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the first Muslim to be elected by a leading political party in the history of Ghana to a Presidential election in a party dominated by Christians.

He revealed that Zongo and Inner-cities were clarify among the list of deprived community in Ghana with little attention from successive governments since independent for sustainable development.

According to him, in the fourth republic since 1992, only two political parties which is the NDC and the NPP under five different Presidents who have had the opportunity to lead the country with the people of Zongo voting massively for the NDC leading to the election of three different NDC regime which is the Rawlings, Mills and Mahama regimes.

He added that in spite of the unflicted loyalty and overwhelming support from the people of Zongo, the NDC have little to show interms of tangible development and the Zongos cannot boast of any deliberate attention by the NDC to cause a positive change into their lives.
