As at close of filing of nominations on Friday, July 19, 2019, only two persons filed for their nomination to contest at the constituency party office at Mataheko a suburb of Accra.
The two were Alhaji Abdul- Latif Dan and Alhaji Halidu Haruna. This reporter in a telephone interview with the Constituency Chairman, Mr. Kplorm Kofi Dordunu who is out of the country commended the two members of the party for showing interest to recapture the Ablekuma Central seat for the party. The Chairman was optimistic that the NDC would recapture the Ablekuma Central seat in 2020. Ablekuma Central he said has been the seat for the NDC but due to some reasons, it has become a swung seat adding that it was the seat for the NDC and they lost it to the NPP in 2016 and that the NDC will recapture it in 2020.
“In 2016 some mistakes were made but we have learned our lessons are going to win the seat back”, he asserted.
