MTN Ghana has embarked on another benevolence exercise by supporting the National Hajj Board with smart high-end devices valued at GHc62, 000. The company also presented airtime worth GHc15, 000 and MTN souvenirs to the Board.
Speaking at the Hajj Village, right after handing over the items to the Chairman of the Hajj Board, the Mobile Money Limited Senior Manager for Commercial Corporate Business Development, Abdul-Majeed Rufai, reiterated MTN’s commitment to supporting the activities of Muslim pilgrims and the Hajj Board. According to him, this year’s Hajj is extremely significant since pilgrims from Ghana have been unable to visit Mecca for the past two years owing to the Covid -19 pandemic.
“In view of this, we are here on behalf of the Management and staff of MTN to extend our warmest regards and a lending hand to pilgrims who will be lodging at the hajj village whilst they wait to embark on their pilgrimage. MTN has also partnered with our Roaming partners, Mobily and STC in Saudi Arabia to provide our customers with Pay As You Go and Pay Monthly offers to make pilgrims enjoy and stay in touch with their family and friends whilst Roaming in Saudi Arabia,” he disclosed. In addition, MTN will set up Mobile Merchants at the Hajj Villages in Ghana and also in Saudi Arabia to provide pilgrims with access to fast, secured, and convenient money transfer services. We hope our support will make this year’s Hajj journey a smooth and memorable one. We wish all the pilgrims a safe journey to Mecca.
The National Hajj Board was thankful to the leadership of MTN for their commitment to supporting the Hajj Board and the Muslim community in diverse ways. MTN has been supportive of the Muslim community over the years. In 2017 MTN Ghana refurbished the lodging area by tiling the floor at a cost of GHc200, 000 and also donated devices and airtime worth over GHȻ30,000.00.
