New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate aspirant for Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region has rendered an unqualified apology to the Regional Executive Committee (REC) of the party over the media war with them.
In a leaked letter sighted by MyNewsGh.com, Manaf Ibrahim expressed remorse over the turf war between him and the executives as a result of fallouts from certain decisions that were taken.
The letter reads in part “I write to unreservedly apologize for the public exchanges in the media space in the past few weeks. The happenings within that period I reckon were in my low moments. If in words, deeds, attitude, mannerism, taste or tone, I have caused anyone discomfort or created pain, that is not my truest self. Please, forgive me. Charge it to my head, not to my heart. I hope this apology meets your kindest consideration”
The party’s Regional Executive Committee (REC) had in a resolution stated that there would be no parliamentary primaries in three (3) Orphan Constituencies in the region a decision that was fiercely resisted.
At a meeting of the Regional Executive Committee of the party held on Monday, 29th July 2019, the Regional Executive Committee (REC), after thorough and exhaustive deliberations, unanimously declared that the three(3) Orphan Constituencies in the region shall sponsor the candidatures of Hon. Alidu Seidu, MCE- Asokore Mampong, Hon. Salisu Bamba, MCE – Ejura Sekyeredumasi and Hon. Joseph Owusu, DCE – Sekyere Afram Plains as sole candidates for the Asawasi, Ejura Sekyeredumasi, and Sekyere Afram Plains respectively.
Subsequently, the Director of Political Affairs at the Presidency, Manaf Ibrahim who showed interest in contesting in the Asawase Constituency, purchased forms and went through vetting was in a dramatic suspended by the party generating media war but he has since apologized.
