Kano pilgrims board to recruit Saudi-approved ad-hoc staff only

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board says henceforth it will only employ casual staff in Saudi Arabia who have been vetted by Saudi Authorities.

KANO FOCUS recalls that a Saudi-based casual staff of the Board was featured in a video that went viral during the 2019 Hajj operation, where she accused a Centre Officer of defrauding a pilgrim.

However, when the Board instituted a committee of inquiry, the casual staff disappeared without a trace.

Executive Secretary of the Board, Muhammad Abba Dambatta state in a statement issued on Wednesday that the new policy is meant to prevent similar occurrences.

Mr Dambatta  said the Board will soon launch a newly constructed Kano Pilgrims Hospital under the supervision of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

He added that the Board is also about to lay the foundation of a proposed 500-bed hotel for pilgrims in Kano.

In a remark, the Chairman of the Board, Abdallah Saleh Pakistan, charged the Centre officers to be God-fearing in discharging their duties.
