John Dramani Mahama Remains The Only Hope Of Ghanaians – Adam-GH

The Executive Secretary of Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana (ADAM-GH), Mr. Azubila Emmanuel Abdul-Salam has described the lectures of former President John Dramani Mahama as a fresh breath for the suffering masses in Ghana.

According to him the former president’s lecture has also served as a source of encouragement for Ghanaians and has given Ghanaians hope. He further described the move by former President Mahama as a true sign of a good leader in desperate times like this. ADAM-GH is astonished that the former president is the one who played the role of the president by encouraging Ghanaians to remain steadfast in these hard times. Mr. Azubila expressed his gratitude to the former President for the call on Security agencies, especially the Ghana Armed Forces, to remain loyal to Ghana’s 1992 constitution.

He stated that comparing John Mahama’s words of hope to Ghanaians and the very unfortunate statement by the President at a time when our country finds itself in dire economic doldrums, choosing to insult the people, is rather unfortunate.”Why should the President insult Ghanaians and rather decide to beg the Military to remain loyal and promise them a cost of living allowance (COLA)?” Mr. Azubila asked.

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo, according to Mr. Azubila has negligently and deliberately, together with his family, through Ken Ofori Atta destroyed the economy beyond repairs and has failed to show leadership skills but rather resorted to verbal attacks on Ghanaians. “How unfortunate! It is an undeniable fact that Ghanaians are going through hell due to mismanagement, corruption and gross incompetence” he noted.

Mr. Azubila believes this is the period when any good leader should have been comforting his fellow Ghanaians and giving them hope through words of encouragement while working hard to reverse the situation. Below is the press release:

Press Release October 30, 2022

JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA REMAINS THE ONLY HOPE OF GHANAIANS, ADAM-GH.

Former president Mahama’s lectures at UPSA were a gust of fresh breath for the suffering masses. He encouraged Ghanaians, giving them hope; a true sign of good leadership in desperate times like this. ADAM-GH is astonished that the former president is the one who played the role of the president, encouraging Ghanaians to remain steadfast in these hard times. The former president called on the Security, especially the Ghana Armed Forces, to remain loyal to Ghana’s 1992 constitution. Another good call after his words of encouragement to Ghanaians. Comparing JM’s words of hope to Ghanaians and the very unfortunate statement by the President at a time when our country finds itself in dire economic doldrums, choosing to insult the people, is rather unfortunate. Why should the President insult Ghanaians and rather decide to beg the Military to remain loyal and promise them a cost of living allowance (COLA)?

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo, who negligently or deliberately, together with his family, through Ken Ofori Atta destroyed the economy beyond repairs, failed to show leadership but rather resorted to verbal attacks on Ghanaians. How unfortunate! It is an undeniable fact that Ghanaians are going through this hell due to mismanagement, corruption and gross incompetence. This is the period when any good leader should have been comforting his people, giving them hope through words of encouragement while working hard to reverse the situation. But no ! President Nana Addo and his brother, the Okyehene, Amoatia Ofori Payin, rather chose to attack the suffering masses, insulting Ghanaians, calling them names and insisting that their brother Ken Ofori Atta the Finance Minister, who plunged us all into this dark abyss in the first place, still remains the best option for Ghanaians. The president and his brother Okyehene Amoatia Ofori Payin should humbly come out to apologize to Ghanaians for the insults and disrespect to our traditional leaders who seek development for their subjects.

ADAM-GH, as a civil society organization that anchors proper democratic principles, ensures good governance, promotes the rule of law and protection of fundamental human rights, believes that the posture of the President these days is not only disappointing but actually a threat to the survival of our cherished Democracy as well as the very existence of his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the very foundation that made Nana Addo who he is today.

A CALL ON THE SECURITY TO REMAIN LOYAL TO THE 1992 CONSTITUTION: ADAM-GH, in keeping with our vision of anchoring proper democratic principles, will also like to add our voice to the call on the security to remain loyal to our 1992 constitution regardless of the hard economy, the belligerent posture of the President, the verbal insults and lack of plans to rescue Ghanaians from this mess. We know the reasons given by various coup d’etat leaders across the ECOWAS sub-Region for their actions is nowhere near what Ghanaians are facing in Ghana today. This, however, is also not enough justification to disturb our cherished Democracy that remains our only bragging rights in Africa. Our soldiers should be patient and allow Ghanaians to use the power of the thumb, rather than the power of the gun.

CALLS TO SACK OR IMPEACH THE FINANCE MINISTER KEN OFORI ATTA BY MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT, ADAM-GH believe that the president has brought the name of the office of the president to disrepute and public ridicule, we are therefore calling on Parliament to immediately initiate impeachment processes to remove the President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and Ken Ofori Atta the Finance Minister and the entire economic management team. Singling out the finance Minister alone is not something that we believe will solve the root cause of our country’s problem. Article 69 clause (1) of the 1992 constitution said ” the president shall be removed from office if he is found in accordance with the provision of this article, (a) to have acted in wilful violation of the oath of allegiance and the presidential oath set out in the second schedule to, or in wilful violation of any other provisions of, this constitution; or to have conducted himself in a manner- (i) which brings or likely to bring the high office of the president into disrepute, ridicule or contempt: or (ii) prejudicial or inimical to the economy or the security of the state”.

When Ghanaians started calling on the president to fix the country, the president and his people told Ghanaians to fix themselves, now we have gotten to a point where Ghanaians can no longer fix themselves. Even your party members and your members of parliament can no longer remain loyal to you Mr. President and have to publicly disagree with some of your decisions, then do not think that all the security around you can remain loyal to you and the 1992 constitution please change your game plan for our forward match. As a CSO our advice to the president is that he should not continue to behave as if he is the enemy of our cherished Democracy. When it persists we can not blame any desperate soldier who will take advantage of your regrettable behavior to destabilize this 4th Republic, we do not need any 5th Republic. Finally, we are adding our voice and appealing to the security especially the Military to exercise patience and not to follow the current happenings to abort this our cherished growing Democracy, even though there are numerous justifications for any of such actions as compared to reasons given by various coup d’etat leaders across the ECOWAS sub-region.
