Collective Effort Needed To Mitigate Spread of COVID-19

The Greater Accra Zabarma Chief, Alhaji Pro-Umar Abubakar Tanko who is also the President of the Ghana Zabarma Association has called on chiefs, philanthropists and other stakeholders to support Government’s effort in containing the spread of coronavirus in our dear country. He believes “It is high time for the affluent ones in our communities to support the needy” and capitalise on the current situation to make excessive profits.

Alhaji Pro-Umar Tanko made the call in a short video circulating on social media hinted that his palace has ordered hand gloves, hand sanitizers as well as face masks with the intention of distributing them at Makarantas (Schools) Mosques and the Zabarma Communities in Accra.

He advised people especially businessmen to restrict their movement or even avoid it unless deemed necessary. The community leader also urged Ghanaians especially the Zabarma Community to adhere to the directives issued by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to prevent further spread of COVID-19 (Corona Virus) in the country.

It is vital that the Zabarma community adhere to the directive of the President; thus, avoiding going to naming and marriage ceremonies including social gatherings with more than 25 people. He appealed to the Zabarma community to practice hygiene at home by ensuring the availability of water and soap in their compounds for visitors to wash their hands before ushering them to their seating rooms, cover their mouths when coughing and desist from putting fingers in eyes and mouths.
