Yesterday at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital: National Vice Chairman of the Health Services Worker’s Union, presented a citation to Sheikh Yunusah Osman Mohammed (Rtd) popularly known as Dr. Oluman. Alhaji Osman (Dr. Oluman Rtd): Prior to his retirement, was a lecturer at the School of Allied Health Sciences of the University of Ghana. He was also the head of the departments of Chemical Pathology, Immunology and exited as the laboratory manager of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Born and raised in Sabon Zango (a suburb of Accra), Dr. Oluman attended O’Reilly Senior Secondary School in Accra as a young man. He further proceeded in his quest for knowledge to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to deepen his knowledge not only in Islamic education but also in circular education. Despite being married with children, he was unfazed in pursuing his dreams. After tumultuous years in Saudi Arabia, he returned to Ghana and enrolled in a master’s program at the University of Ghana Legon and successfully graduated two years later. While heading the department of chemical pathology at Korlebu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Oluman was called to serve at the office of the vice president of the Republic of Ghana Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia as technical adviser.
Alhaji Osman has eventually retired from duties at Korlebu Teaching Hospital but still pursuing his political career in the current administration. He’s not only a role model for Zango youth but he’s also inspired others in Sabon Zango to seek knowledge and become responsible citizens.
