Accra Zango Chief Joined Dr. Bawumia, Others To Commissioned First Islamic Nursing Training College

The Greater Accra Zango Chief, Sarki Alhaji Yahya Hamisu Bako on March 19, 2022, joined the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Alhaji Dr. Mahamoudu Bawumia and the leadership of Ahlu Sunnah wal Jamaa from Ghana and Nigeria to Commission the first Islamic Nursing Training College at Aplaku in the Greater Accra.

The Vice President on his Facebook page posted photos of the Greater Accra Zango Chief and others and stated that there are over 90 public nursing training colleges across the country which are inadequate to meet the growing admission demands of SHS graduates. The post further stated that the private sector, especially Faith-based organizations, have played leading roles in complementing the government’s efforts at expanding access to nursing training by establishing nursing schools.

The Islamic Nursing Training School is a welcome addition to these schools, and it will offer more admission opportunities to young Ghanaians aspiring to be nurses. ‘I commend the leadership of the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamma, as well as all those who contributed towards building the Islamic Nursing Training School’, he added.

Courses to be offered include the following Diploma in Registered General Nursing, Diploma in Community Health Nursing, and Other Certification Programmes.

Speaking on behalf of the Greater Accra Zango Chief, Sarki Yahya Hamisu Bako, the Secretary of the palace Yusif Elias said education remains a priority to the Accra Zango Chief and that of the good people of Ghana. He added that the Islamic Nursing Training College will provide a conducive environment for the Zango youth who will meet the needed criteria to be enrolled in the college.

He believes the College is equipped with modern nursing training technology and other facilities that will help the students to come out with the needed qualification to serve the Muslim communities and Ghana at large. Commissioning of this College is a significant milestone for the Muslim community and prayed for Allah’s protection and guidance for the Training College to serve its purpose to the benefit of all.
