DirectAid Donates 15 Industrial Sewing Machines, Sewing Accessories To Ahodwo Residents

To ensure the eradication of poverty and massive enrollment in the skill training Industry especially fashion design in the Nsawam Ahodwo community, a Non-Governmental Organisation, DirectAid society Ghana, has donated 15 industrial sewing machines and accessories to residents of Ahodwo.

The donation was to empower Seamstresses in the community to train more young women in becoming Seamtreses to bridge the unemployment gap in the community.

The donation which is worth 120,000 Ghana Cedis include 15 industrial sewing machines, wax print, lynning materials, pressing Iron, tailor chucks, needles, treads, tailor tape measures, scissors, two gallons of industrial machine oil among others.

The brief and well organized event was held on Saturday, August 18, 2024 at the headquarters of Byte Africa Charity a strategic partners of DirectAid Society Ghana in Ahodwo in the Eastern Region.

The beautiful ceremony to hand over the donation to the beneficiaries was attended by residents, tribal Chiefs and the Chief Executive Officer of Nsawam Adoagyiri

Presenting the items, the Country Director of DirectAid Society Ghana, Mr. Sami Hanandeck stated that the donation was in line with the NGO’s quest to eradicate poverty in the country they operate.

The project themed micro finance project seeks to empower and help the needy families in the villages.

He said the project also seeks to encourage and support the needy families to depend on themselves in the future reiterating that the 15 industrial sewing machines and its accessories is worth 120,000 Ghana Cedis.

He revealed that the organization on August 11, 2024 also donated 15 cattle to needy families for farming purposes adding that the organization has another donation to be made to the village which is also under the micro finance project.

He further revealed that every year, the organization focuses on four regions namely Eastern Region, Kumasi, Cape Coast and Tamale and supports more than 100 families.

The Human Resource Manager for DirectAid Society Ghana, Mr. Suleiman Adam revealed that the organization which was established in Ghana in 1988 is geared towards eradication of poverty, improve the quality of education among other interventions.

According to him the donation was not the first time as the organisation has-been donating to the needy adding that the donation will also help the women to abstain from begging and help the beneficiaries to stand on their feet to be able to feed their families.

He added that the organization is donating to assist the people stressing that, the organization does not want to see people begging on the streets hence the project.

The Chief Executive Officer of Nsawam Adoagyiri Hon. Emmanuel Owusu Arthur appealed to the beneficiaries to make good use of the industrial sewing machines and use it for its intended purposes to spur the donors to extend their benevolence to others.

He stated that out of many residents in Ahodwo only few were selected to benefit from the donation, he therefore urged the beneficiaries to see themselves as the fortunate ones and pray for the Country Director of DirectAid Society Ghana and Byte Africa Charity for their efforts in eradicating poverty within the Ahodwo community.

According to him the government will do its part to ensure that the basic needs of the people in Ahodwo are provided for the benefit of all.

On his part, the Director of Byte Africa Charity a strategic partners for DirectAid Society Ghana, Sheikh Zakaria Ali Abdul Karim revealed that the donation was aimed at empowering trainers in sewing by equipping them to enroll more apprentices in the filed of fashion design.

This he said will help bridge the unemployment gap among the women in the Ahodwo community.

He further revealed that DirectAid Ghana has been a help factor not only in Ahodwo but across the country adding that the NGO has made a number of donations to many communities in the country through the construction of boreholes, provision of education scholarships, empowerment among the youth and women, donation of food items during Ramadan and many more.

The Financial Director of Byte Africa Charity, Sheikh Isma’il Zakariya Alhassan stated that selection of beneficiaries is solely based on people who cannot afford to buy the machine but have the requisite skill to train apprentices adding that the selection does not focus on only Muslims but cuts across other faiths.

He urged the people of Ahodwo to appreciate every thing that DirectAid will donate to them and pray for the country Director as well as the staff in order to extend its donations in the community.

The beneficiaries thanked DirectAid society Ghana for its kind gesture and their continuous support for the people of Ahodwo and it environs.

“We have to say big thank you to the Country Director of DirectAid Ghana and Byte Africa Charity because what we are seeing here is extraordinary and it will take us long way to enroll more interested women who want to enroll in apprenticeship but do not have the the financial means to buy the machines. The beneficiaries noted.

They prayed for DirectAid Society Ghana for Allah’s blessings, protection and prosperity.
