The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia placed a surprise call into the Joy FM Super Morning Show hosted by Kojo Yankson.
The Vice President called in to share his Christmas and 2020 New Year message directly with all Christians and Ghanaians in general as they mark the birth of Jesus Christ. The Vice President said that he was grateful God had shown the country mercies throughout 2019.
“On behalf of my family and myself, I’d like to wish all Ghanaians a Merry Christmas and a happy new year. May 2020 be a year of good health, peace and prosperity,” he told Kojo Yankson, host of the show.
Dr Bawumia added that he prays God, continue to bless Ghana.
He also praised Joy FM for going strong in its 25 years of broadcast. He stated that the company’s dedication has kept Ghana on its toes.
Methodist Church commends Bawumia’s humility and trans-religious tolerance
The Methodist Church, Ghana in October 2018 surprised Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia with a special birthday celebration at their Wesley Cathedral in Cape Coast during church service.
The Church said Dr. Bawumia’s humility and trans-religious tolerance have endeared him to the Christian and Muslim communities. As a devoted Muslim, Dr. Bawumia has a perfect sense of the need for religious tolerance and has demonstrated true leadership and commitment at same.
The Vice President who turned 55 years at the time was attending the Induction Service of the then newly elected Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, The Most Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo.
In a highly surprising move, the entire congregation and clergy of the church rose up with a rousing welcome to the Vice President as he entered the church amidst singing, cheering, and praises with a beautiful rendition of the popular “happy birthday to you” song.
Led by the outgoing and incoming Presiding Bishops, the Church presented a birthday hamper to Dr. Bawumia and prayed for the blessings, favour, and wisdom of the Almighty God onto the life of the Vice President.
Some of the Church members could not hide their love and admiration for the Vice President as they showered praises and blessings upon his life for his humility, respect, and hardwork.
